I understand, too -- and with a sister with it, I pray daily my children do NOT fall prey to it, too. It's so difficult and permeates so much of my life these days. And my mom is still alive -- I can only imagine what the struggle will be like when she dies. It's NOT something I look forward to.

My mom found this book and passed it on to me, about the struggle of living with mental illness. It's called "Life is Like a Line," and the author is surviving bipolar disorder and coming to grips with her own family issues and struggles. It weaves analysis and information, and really helps the reader understand life in a dysfunctional family and living with bipolar disorder. It's helped my family a lot, if in just helping us be a little more understanding.

I understand all too well. Bipolar disorder runs rampant in my family, although I am not one of the ones who has it. But I deal with it on a daily basis because, not only does my sister have it, my daughter does, too. I see every day how it affects her and you are so correct in your assertion that it's a physical condition as well. I commend you for wanting to remove the stigma from this condition - I do as well. I wish you much luck on your endeavors.
